A: Can you test order process with firecheckout turned off? Firecheckout is based on same controllers and models that default magento checkout is based on. So it should no affect checkout speed at all.One of our clients already faced same problem. It was caused by large number of orders in database and little resources dedicated to hosting account. Issue was solved by upgrading serve memory.

A: Dear Tilman, unfortunately there is no such config option. But you can easily hide shipping block with css styles.

A: Firecheckout supports default Magento gifts message feature. We don't have it enabled at our demo server.
